Offline for a while

Sometime between 9:30pm and 11:30pm tonight, I became a widower.
My wife Amy Elizabeth Haskew passed away unexpectedly at the age of 34.

  1. Bill,

I am so very sorry to read this. I’m a regular reader and enjoy hearing what you’ve been up to, but the shock I felt when I saw your latest post surprised and upset me deeply.

There is nothing I can say that will help here, but I want you to know that people you’ve never met are thinking about you now. I want to say I’m hoping that things will be as good as possible for you, but I can’t find words to explain what I mean so I’ll stop now.

We will be thinking about you and I am so very sorry this has happened to you.

  2. We are here for you. Even though you live a few hours away we can come down to help with anything you need. Just give us the word.

  3. Thanks everyone. I’ve got good people here to help take care of things, and my mom should be here within half an hour thanks to a friend/neighbor who bought her a plane ticket.

  4. There’s a lot of us online techies who have benefitted from your efforts over the years, and I think it’s fair to say that every one of us hopes for the best for you and that your pain eases quickly.

  5. We are so upset to hear about Amy. PLEASE let us know what we can do for you (besides prayer). You and Amy have been dear to us. We are so sorry and heartbroken right now. We want to be there for you. Don’t go through this alone. We are just a few hours away. Seriously, just tell us what to do to help you. -Shan

  9. Hi Bill.

I’ve only just heard. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I’ll always remember your turtle going out of her way to annoy Snooze by making kissyface on EFnet. 🙂

  13. I read your question in Ask Metafilter, but didn’t feel comfortable posting this in there since I didn’t have an answer to your question. But I just wanted to tell you that I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I’m glad that you have so many people around you for support. Take care.
