Antique Technology

I bought a slide rule on eBay today.

Sometimes I think I was born 10-15 years too late; I have a strange affinity with 1960s and 1970s technology.

If you *had* have been born 10-15 years earlier, you’d know that there were K&E slide rules, and there were the pretenders.

I saw some K&E ones on eBay as well, but they were more expensive. Plus, I found an online scan of the instruction manual for the Pickett.

I’ve got two slide rules my dad gave me when I was a kid. They haven’t lost their cool factor in 25+ years…

Sextants are cool too. Not only are they useful, they look nice too.

the slide rule is 60s and 70s technology?!?

  6. mrbill Says:

The 60s and 70s were the last decades where they were really popular and widely available. Cheap pocket calculators killed their market in the 70s.
