I’ve decided I’m going to work my way up to building and using this. I’m going to order it in the next few days, then keep it ready until I’m confident enough to assemble it without screwing something up..

I built an interface cable for my CVS “disposable” camcorder tonight (following these instructions), and it works! (DivX .AVI)

My First Electronics Project

I’d never really had a need to own a soldering iron before, so I figured it was time to learn. Went to Electronic Parts Outlet after work today, and picked up an Easy Minikit Starter Pack that had two mini-kits, solder, soldering iron, etc.

Three hours later, my my first project is a success! I’ve even got video proof (DivX).

(and yes, I burned myself, but not badly..)

CVS video camera hacked!

Well, the CVS Camcorder was finally hacked. I’m glad I picked mine up a month ago.

I’ve ordered the parts to make a USB interface cable off eBay, and have mirrored the software and cable-making instructions.

Interesting - some of the surveillance cameras at the Austin airport are wide-open to view from the Internet. At least they changed the default admin logins/passwords…
