If your ground is really settling you’re probably better off leaving the rubber patch than going back to PVC. Just make sure those clamps are nice and tight so it doesn’t leak and attract animals. That’s also an interesting arrangment you’ve got going there. Why on earth does the drain leave the side of the house before going underground? PVC wasn’t in wide use in the 50’s, especially white PVC, so I’m guessing that’s a kludge to get around a broken bit of pipe in the slab, possibly caused by the previously mentioned settling.
