RIP Sellfone

Tuesday, July 20th, 2004

I used to hang out on the #bitchx IRC channel a few years ago. Tonight I found out that another one of the regulars that I used to talk to had passed away in his sleep over the weekend. This makes two people I’ve known on IRC who are now gone.

still busy

Spent most of the past weekend sick at home (sorry, Kathryn!).

Read “Singularity Sky” by Charles Stross, now reading Project Orion - The True Story of the Atomic Spaceship“.

Will update more when I’m feeling better.

oh yeah.

I’ve been so busy lately that I’ve forgotten to update.

Picked up the new John Ringo novel, “Emerald Sea”, and am reading it this weekend. Testing out the new Linksys/Cisco SD208 8-port desktop 10/100 ethernet switch. Finally got rsnapshot working properly on my “toaster” dedicated backup box - it was a problem with link-dest and rsync. Found out that a dead 40G HD is still under warranty, so I can get it replaced and have a spare. Finished the migration project for a consulting client, replacing a pair of Sun machines with some 1U rackmount Pentium 4 boxes running RedHat. Speaking of RedHat, I’m enrolled in a four-day RHCE refresher and certification class at the beginning of October.
