Houston, we have a New Desk
Saturday, February 21st, 2004Thanks to a ton of help from Amy, the new Jerker desk is assembled and in service. It’s good to get rid of the tank-like desk I’ve had in here for the past five years.

Due to the absolutely shitty state the economy has been in from 2000 till 2003 (and only now is it starting to recover) I was not particuarly a fan of President Bush. I wasn’t happy with the “My daddy couldn’t beat you, but I bet I can!” invasion of Iraq (and the lack of any weapons of mass destruction). I haven’t been happy with the unfounded, unwarranted attacks on the Vice-President and his former company (which happens to be my employer).
However, this and this prove that at least he’s not as much of a moron as some of his opponents make him out to be. Anybody who likes barbecue ribs, and blows off the press like that, can’t be too bad.
This doesn’t mean that I want him re-elected, however.
Finally got the assembly instructions for the IKEA “Jerker” desk, thanks to customer service at the Houston store.
Today, Amy and I took Max down to Dirty Dog and gave him the best bath he’s had in a couple of months. They’ve got a really great idea - a self-service dog wash with everything you need (wash tubs, water hoses and sprayers, towels, non-heated dryers) provided. Cost about $15 (because Max is so big) and another $10 to rent a set of electric clippers.
Amy got me my valentine’s day present tonight:
An Epiphone Les Paul Junior Special guitar.

I have the black one.
(Worksafe, Quicktime required)
95% of the garage, contents of the computer room closet, and some other stuff.
Couple more closets, an old pool slide, and some pieces of fence to go…

I also just gave away the pile of SPARCstation 1s and 2s and the 12-port 10baseT hub.
I condensed half a garage of old DEC/PDP stuff down to this.
