Adriaan Tijsseling has announced that his rewrite of Kung-Log, now called ecto, will be available for beta testing soon. As a donor for Kung-Log, I’ve signed up.
Well, I can now “field strip” the glock in less than ten seconds, and put it back together in another ten. I could probably do it with my eyes closed at this point. Need to get another magazine and a better storage case (the case I have it in is actually the “Tupperware” case for a Glock 26).
One nice thing about guns is that parts for them are so *CHEAP* once you’ve bought the gun itself. I may get a replacement guide rod and recoil spring, basically a metal replacement for the factory part, at a grand total of $25. I’ll make decisions on all of this once I’m actually able to go and put a box of fifty rounds through the pistol, as I’ve not actively shot a “real” firearm in twelve or thirteen years.
Got a box from Amazon yesterday - someone who I’d helped get BIND9 and Apache with virtual hosts running (after they emailed me at questions@sunhelp.org) sent me I’m Just Here For The Food by Alton Brown, and another book about the history of the Oxford English Dictionary (”The History of Everything”).
Best Christmas present ever from Amy today.
Tony, when you want to go shootin’?
Need to find my concealed-carry book now..
Ever wanted to hear the Chipmunks at normal speed?
This is highly disturbing, but cool at the same time. You get to hear what the real voices of the guys who do the “Chipmunks” sound like.
By 12/31/2004, I aim to:
- Learn perl well, instead of “basic working knowledge” like I have at the present.
- Lose 100 lbs
- Improve my guitar playing to the point where I’m as good a player as I was 10 years ago
- Get my general-class ham radio license (I’m a no-code Tech class licensee right now)
Here’s an amazing fake-G5 enclosure for a G4 Cube. My first OSX-capable Mac was a G4 cube, and went on to another good home when I got this dual-G4 tower.
Used the last of my vacation/personal-day time yesterday afternoon, then I ended up coming home sick this afternoon with a raging migraine and wanting to throw up all over everything. Got the new SunFire V240 unpacked and rackmounted, though.
We went this morning to get Amy a spa manicure as her christmas present. When we got there, I carried my book in so I could sit and read while she was getting pampered. The nail place had two people on staff, and the owner said to me “Why don’t get you get a pedicure too?” I said “uhm.. nahh…” and he said “Come on, only 20 bucks”, so I got pampered and I now have PRETTY FEET. More guys should get things like this done, it was nice.
We went this afternoon and I upgraded from a Nokia 3595 cellphone to a Nokia 3100 (actually a better phone, despite the model number).
I’ve found a great new RSS reader for Windows, that reminds me a lot of NetNewsWire for the Mac. It’s FeedDemon, from BradSoft.
